Summer is here, and if that’s not enough to lift your mood, June brings with it a vast array of great content for you to enjoy while on-the-go. The only challenge, however, is knowing where and when to look for the hottest new entertainment. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered, with our roundup of the top entertainment picks for this month.
But first, you can enjoy all the latest entertainment by selecting one of our Red Entertainment plans*, a subscription to Amazon Prime Video, NOW TV Entertainment Pass, Sky Sports Mobile TV, or Spotify Premium is included on us for up to two years!
Here are our top entertainment picks for June…
Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video is chock-full of top TV, whether that’s the hilarious The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, the gripping The Man in the High Castle, or the brilliant Bosch – but on May 31, Good Omens, one of the most eagerly anticipated shows of the year, finally arrived on the streaming service.
The TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s much-loved fantasy novel is bursting with talent, led by the chameleonic Michael Sheen as angel Aziraphale, and ex-Doctor Who David Tennant as demon Crowley. Having grown used to life on earth, these unlikely frenemies team up to stop an apocalyptic battle between heaven and hell.
What we’ve seen so far has filled us with confidence that the show manages to capture the irreverent tone of the brilliantly bonkers book, and if you’re looking for a binge-friendly show this summer, look no further.
NOW TV Entertainment Pass
The NOW TV Entertainment Pass offers you the chance to watch some of the best and biggest boxsets around, as well as live content from an array of different channels and this month, subscribers are treated to the second season of one of the biggest and best shows around: Big Little Lies.
With acting royalty Meryl Streep added to an incredible cast which, if you need reminding, includes Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley, Big Little Lies sees us return to California for more gossip, back-stabbing and drama.
Arriving on June 10 and picking up after the shocking conclusion of season one, with the fates of Madeline, Renata, Celeste and more very much to be decided, we’re certain season two will be more than worth the wait. With Game of Thrones now over, Big Little Lies season two couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
Sky Sports Mobile TV
The Premier League title race is now done and dusted, with Pep Guardiola’s Man City crowned champions after a hard-fought campaign in which challengers Liverpool pushed them right to the very last day of the season. So, now that the breathless excitement of the Premier League is on hold for the time being, what next? Well, thankfully, Sky Sports Mobile TV has a whole host of sport for you to enjoy while on-the-go during the summer months.
First, there’s the summer transfer window. Yes, we know the Premier League has just finished, but the drama doesn’t end there. There’ll be plenty of ins and outs this summer as the top of the league aim to bolster their squad, the challenging pack hope to strengthen, and those at the lower end of the table hope to avoid a relegation scrap next year. It’s a little while until we see Jim White’s iconic yellow tie on Transfer Deadline Day, but there’s plenty of deals to be made in the meantime.
Or, if you fancy a break from the football, why not check out the NBA Playoffs? The best-of-seven tournament reaching its conclusion in mid-June, offering a perfect injection of summer sport.
Every summer needs a soundtrack, and Spotify Premium can help ensure you have yours – whether that’s a cool new podcast to enliven your commute, a huge new album to get you ready for festival season, or some favourite hits to get you in the mood for fun in the sun. And what’s more, you won’t even need to listen to ads.
The big releases are coming thick and fast to Spotify in June, and there’s truly something for everyone, with indie favourites Bastille returning with new album Dooms Day, epic punksters Titus Andronicus dropping the follow-up to their stripped-back A Productive Cough, and electro outfit Hot Chip releasing their eagerly awaited LP, A Bath Full of Ecstasy. That’s summer sorted, then.
