Vodafone UK customers can now buy the new Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G, the first handset fully equipped with the lightning-fast network tech, with a 5G-ready device from Samsung also available for pre-order…

5G is almost upon us, and after years of much-warranted hype, the superfast mobile tech is now one step closer to moving out of our imaginations and into our pockets, with Vodafone UK customers able to order the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G – the first 5G handset – from today.

The new Xiaomi MIX 3 comes fully equipped with a 24MP and 2MP dual camera system for all those amazing summer snaps, a pin-sharp 6.39-inch full screen display, plus an incredible 960 fps recording – allowing you to relive those precious moments in rich detail. And you can pick it up for no more than a big brand 4G device, with the new Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 starting at £50 per month.

That’s not all – those eager to enjoy incredible 5G tech with a Samsung device can pre-order theirs from today.

The new 5G-ready Samsung Galaxy S10 boasts a huge 6.7-inch Cinematic Infinity-O display, six cameras with 3D Depth Sensor, as well as a long-lasting battery and super-fast 25W wired charging. Promotional pre-order pricing will start from £58, with new 5G ready devices similarly priced to high-end 4G smartphones. What’s more: all 5G devices will come with 24 months warranty and with no premium for the 5G service over 4G. Head to Vodafone UK to check out all of the details on pricing for 5G handsets.

And our work with 5G doesn’t stop there.

Gaming with 5G

Our dedication to the future of 5G tech is well-established, having conducted the UK’s first live holographic call over 5G and launching a series of trials across the UK for the mobile tech. Now, we’re turning our attention to gamers, with the Vodafone 5G network bringing faster speeds, a more reliable connection and super low latency – delivering an unrivalled mobile gaming experience.

With this in mind, we’re delighted to announce our exclusive UK operator partnership with Hatch, the cloud gaming service. The partnership will give all Vodafone pay monthly customers three month’s access to Hatch Premium – worth £6.99 a month, on us, once Vodafone’s 5G network is switched on from July 3*.

Built for the 5G network, Hatch allows gamers to play instantly with no downloads, updates or adverts. With access to more than 100 premium mobile games, including Monument Valley, the award winning Crashlands and Angry Birds, customers who redeem the offer via VeryMe Rewards can also connect and compete with friends and join live tournaments to test their mettle against the very best.

And if your kids want to do some gaming of their own, Vodafone pay monthly customers will also gain access to Hatch Kids, a safe space to play, create and learn without in-game purchases or advertisements.

Now, if you don’t have a 5G connection but are still eager to get stuck into the cloud gaming experience, fret not, because customers on a 4G plan will still be able to enjoy the features and range of games from Hatch.

As for the future, Vodafone will be switching on its 5G network in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and London on July 3, followed by 12 more towns and cities by the end of the year. At this point, fully compatible handsets will be able to take advantage of our new network. Vodafone will also become the world’s first network to offer 5G roaming, with customers able to stream, download or game over 5G in the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany, starting this summer.

Also coming soon to Vodafone is the exclusive home router – the 5G Gigacube. Keep your eyes peeled for more info on what’s next…
