As summer approaches, there’s a whole host of brilliant entertainment to look forward to. It’s time to take a look at the top picks of new content arriving on NOW TV Entertainment Pass, Sky Sports Mobile TV, Amazon Prime Video and Spotify. Here’s what you have to look forward to in May…

The sheer amount of content available to us in 2019 is extraordinary, whether that’s your favourite sports, an incredible superhero epic, or the hottest new album, there’s a vast array of entertainment options available at our fingertips. The only problem with being so spoilt for choice is that it can be tough to keep track of new releases, and where you can actually stream it.

Thankfully, we’ve compiled May’s hottest entertainment options, giving you all the info you need to settle down and enjoy the best of the month’s releases. Whether you’re biting your nails at the end of the Premier League, readying yourself for the final act of one of the world’s biggest shows, or just settling in to listen to the coolest new album, there’s loads to be getting stuck into this month.

But before we dive in, we thought we’d let you know how you can enjoy all the latest entertainment. If you select one of our Red Entertainment plans*, a subscription to Amazon Prime Video, NOW TV Entertainment Pass, Sky Sports Mobile TV, or Spotify Premium is included at no extra cost for up to two years!

So, here are our top entertainment picks for May…

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has recently added a slew of top releases to its already-bulging library, from ace action sequel John Wick 2 (be sure to catch up before the third film arrives in cinemas), to Prime Originals like horror remake Suspiria, and the musical majesty of the Donald Glover-starring drama, Guava Island. But we’re here to throw our weight behind one of the streaming giant’s more unsung original series: Bosch, which recently returned for its fifth season.

Starring brilliant character actor Titus Welliver (of Deadwood and Lost fame), the series follows driven LA detective Bosch who, you guessed it, doesn’t play by the rules but does get results. If that sounds formulaic, rest assured that Bosch is an ace police procedural with plenty of surprises up its sleeve, with Welliver on superb form and the series managing to actually grow in stature with every passing season.

With the latest season arriving in April, it’s not too late to catch up with our favourite grizzled cop, with the entirety of Bosch available on Amazon Prime Video. The trailer for the new season’s below, but if you’re new to Bosch, be wary of spoilers…

NOW TV Entertainment Pass

The NOW TV Entertainment Pass gives you the opportunity to indulge in some of the best TV boxsets around, while also enjoying live content from a whole host of brilliant channels. You can even download your favourite shows with the NOW TV app to give your tube or plane journeys a bit of extra oomph. What’s not to love?

In April, we saw the eagerly anticipated return of Game of Thrones, with the eighth and final season of the fantasy epic arguably the TV event of the year. Now, with the stage set for a grand finale, you can witness the end of one of the biggest shows ever made, as GoT bows out on May 19. That said, if you’re unable to stay awake until the early hours for its initial screening, all episodes are immediately available once they’ve premiered.

We’re still tiptoeing around spoilers, but it’s fair to say that the Iron Throne is still very much up for grabs, and its eventual incumbent will likely have some blood on their hands. We can’t wait to see how it all shakes out.

 Sky Sports Mobile TV

After an epic title race, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool pushing reigning champions Manchester City to their very limit, there’s still time for one final twist. After Man City’s edgy 1-0 defeat over Brendan Rodgers’ resurgent Leicester, thanks to a screamer by captain Vincent Kompany, the title will now be decided on May 12, the final day of the season.

While the title looks to be heading back to Manchester, with Pep’s men one point ahead of Liverpool, all eyes will be on the Amex Stadium as City travel to Brighton. This may not seem like the sternest test for one of the Premier League’s greatest teams, but City cannot afford any complacency, having suffered a scare against Brighton in a narrow 1-0 victory over the seagulls in a recent FA cup tie.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will hope to heap on the pressure with a victory against 7th place Wolves, who’ve had a stellar first season back in the Premier League under Portuguese maestro Nuno Espírito Santo.

While the relegation places have all been filled, with Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham all heading for the drop, and Tottenham and Chelsea all but assured the Champions League places, there’s still much to play for in the Championship, with Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds and Derby County filling the play off places, with the first round kicking off on May 11.

Spotify Premium

Looking for that perfect song to liven up your day? How about a podcast to help pass your morning commute? Maybe you’re just looking to discover some amazing new music? Whatever you need to fulfil your listening needs, Spotify Premium has you covered, and without an ad in sight.

Our pick of the new releases in May is the latest album from brilliant folkies Big Thief, returning with their critically acclaimed third LP U.F.O.F. Fronted by the superb Adrianne Lenker, Big Thief’s follow up to 2017’s Capacity marks another step forward in the output of this incredible band. Catch them now, before everyone else does.

With exam season now upon us, Spotify’s offering up a slew of playlists designed to help get you concentrating and to ease those revision woes, with the likes of the Music for Concentration playlist and Revision Ballads offering up just the right amount of noise to ensure you remain focused on the task at hand.

And if you want to listen without the distraction of being online, Spotify Premium lets you take your favourite songs, albums and playlists offline to ensure your revision is as focused as possible.
