December's always a fantastic month for entertainment, and we’re here to help with top entertainment from Amazon Prime Video, NOW TV Entertainment Pass, Sky Sports Mobile TV, and Spotify Premium...

Nothing beats the festive period: plenty of food, a couple of pressies, and some much-needed downtime before the New Year kicks in. While we can’t help you with the first two, we’ve got your back on that last one: when you sign up to a Vodafone Red Entertainment plan*, you’ll garner the choice of boundless music from Spotify Premium, epic live action from Sky Sports Mobile TV, star-studded TV shows from NOW TV Entertainment, or movies and boxsets from Amazon Prime Video, at no extra cost for the duration of your contract.

But what to choose when that downtime only stretches so far? Take a look at what our entertainment partners have to offer this December to find out…

Amazon Prime Video

On the lookout for some must-see TV shows and movies? Amazon Prime Video has all the latest – and plenty of classic – on-screen entertainment for you to watch at a click of a button or tap of a screen. For exclusive content, Amazon’s homegrown ‘Prime Originals’ have plenty to offer, like period dramedy The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, Season 2  kicks off on December 5.

The story so far? Life for Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel was going swimmingly until her husband Joel left her at the start of season one, after which her humdrum life took a completely different direction, when she stumbled into the world of stand-up comedy, becoming an ‘accidental comedian’ sensation overnight.

But this is New York in the 50s; not the time or place for a woman to begin a career as a comedian. Season one saw Midge struggle along this new path while Joel tried to crawl his way back. Need a more detailed reminder? Here’s a full season one recap:

Season two follows Midge’s triumphant but problematic journey upwards, with a focus on the rivalries standing in the way of her rise to fame and fortune. Take a gander at the trailer:

Sky Sports Mobile TV

Christmas is a great time of year if you’re a football fan; there’s an unbelievable 19 Premier League games available to stream live on Sky Sports this month. While we’d love to talk about each and every one, we’ve pulled out a few highlights that deserve to be on your calendar.

First on our list? Chelsea play Fulham at Stamford Bridge in the West London derby, with a midday kick-off on Sunday 2. Chelsea have played brilliantly over their past six games, winning five, while their track record against their West London rivals is pretty tasty: 15 wins and 10 draws out of the last 26 times the two have squared off. Still, Sunday could always be Fulham’s lucky day.

Next up is a rivalry that’s lasted generations: Arsenal versus Tottenham. Kick-off’s at 14:05, and it looks like The Gunners might have a fight on their hands as Spurs have won their last four games. With Harry Kane performing exceptionally well lately, it’s very possible we could see more of the same.

Boxing Day’s usually a classic fixture, and 2018 doesn’t buck that trend: there are three top games to keep you entertained should you need a distraction from the festivities. Fulham vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers at 12:30, Brighton and Hove Albion vs. Arsenal at 17:15, and Watford vs. Chelsea at 19:30, all on Sky Sports. These three games will also be shown over on Sky One, which means you can tune in if you’re a NOW TV subscriber. Result!

But it’s not all about football. Possibly the biggest darts tournament of the year, the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship begins on December 13 and runs right through to Jan 1 2019. The PDC have made some changes this year, increasing both the prize fund to £2,500,000 and the number of participants to 96 – up from 72.

There’s plenty going on with the NBA this month, too, with dozens of games available to watch on Sky Sports Action. Be sure to check the Sky Sports basketball page for all of December’s fixtures, but our highlights for this month are perfect for when you’ve hit the Christmas day slump:

At 17:00 UK time, the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks go head-to-head at the Knicks’ arena – Madison Square Gardens. The Bucks have played a solid game recently, but the home advantage may see the Knicks victorious this time. Later Christmas day matches include Oklahoma City Thunder versus Houston Rockets at 20:00, and Philadelphia 76ers versus Boston Celtics at 22:30.

Want more entertainment? It’s yours! When you choose Sky Sports Mobile TV with your Red Entertainment plan, you’ll receive a NOW TV Entertainment Pass for six months – for no extra charge. The offer is available until January 8, so you’ve still got time to grab a great entertainment deal for Christmas. Check out all the details here:

NOW TV Entertainment Pass

With a NOW TV Entertainment Pass, you’ve got access to over 300 boxsets and 11 paid TV channels, like Sky One, FOX, Sky Atlantic, and more. So what’s worth binging on this month?

If you like your drama as cold and bleak as the weather, you’ll be happy to hear that Fortitude season 3 is heading to NOW TV on Thursday December 6.

The winters are tough in Fortitude, a tiny, Arctic town where the residents have more to worry about than mere frostbite. Prehistoric parasitic wasps, a tormented shaman, and regular bloodshed keeps the locals living in fear. Think Midsomer Murders, but with gnarly weather and lashings of gore. Season three will be the last in the disturbing thriller’s run, and will play out as a four-part miniseries that should bring a close to all the mysterious goings on.

You can catch the first episode of season 3 on December 6, with new episodes being shown every Thursday thereafter , but be sure to dive into seasons 1 and 2 first.

Another must-watch, but this time on Christmas Day, is the all-singing, all-dancing musical masterpiece that is The Greatest Showman at 6:45pm.

Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Zac Efron star in this very glitzy and glamorous fictional tale of circus inventor PT Barnum. Expect extravagance, drama, and plenty of belting ballads. Here’s the trailer:

Spotify Premium

Christmas Peaceful Piano, meanwhile, is the perfect background playlist to chill to, thanks to its covers of The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
