True telly fans know there’s only one series worth mentioning this month: Game of Thrones season 7. Premiering simultaneously on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK, committed viewers are in for an early morning (2am to be exact) on Monday 17 July. Or, you can conveniently catch every newly released episode at a more socially-acceptable time with your NOW TV Entertainment Pass.
Featuring seven fast-paced but lengthy episodes, Season 7 is the penultimate season of Thrones. The storylines are closely guarded, but we do know winter is here and the stage is set for the biggest battle yet.
New director Matt Shakman (of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mad Men, Fargo, New Girl and more) previously told Entertainment Weekly to expect dragons the size of 747s. We’re also anticipating a melding of storylines as the main characters finally converge on Westeros, as well as a couple of captivating cameos from Ed Sheeran and Mastodon’s Brent Hinds.
Check out the latest trailer below, tune in from 17 July, and keep an eye out for our look at the best fan theories out there.
Sky Sports Mobile TV
Having spent the past month bringing the heat to a chilly southern hemisphere, the British and Irish Lions are nearing the end of their New Zealand tour. In fact, this Saturday (8 July) will be their final chance for glory as they face off against the almighty All Blacks for the third and final time at Auckland’s Eden Park.
Will Gatland’s men come out roaring and head home on a high? Catch all the action live from 8.35am GMT on Sky Sports 1, Saturday 8 July.
Rugby’s not the only sport in the spotlight this month; England’s cricketers are gearing up to take on South Africa in a four-Test series throughout July and August. All four matches will play out on UK soil, with the first starting 11am Thursday 6 July at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Tune into Sky Sports 2 for live coverage throughout the series.
Summer is sounding good on Spotify Premium, with numerous new releases scheduled for this month and a whole host of hot playlists – perfect everything from picnics to parties.
In our first piece of exciting music news – George Ezra is back with new single ‘Don’t Matter Now’! And he’s our Spotify artist of the month. Rising to fame with hit single ‘Budapest’ in 2014 at just 19 years old, the Hertford-born Bristol-reared lad’s voice has a maturity and resonance that belies his considerable youth. Settle in for some more smooth sounds from this incredibly talented singer/songwriter with ‘Don’t Matter Now’ below.
After a four-year hiatus, sisterly trio HAIM is back with ‘Something to Tell You’. Featuring a collaboration with Rostam Batamangli from Vampire Weekend, the full album is scheduled for release 7 July. And, according to the band, fans should expect “classic songwriting, but also modern, exciting and fearless” tracks. Hear for yourself with latest single ‘Little of Your Love’ below.
Also due out this month is the fifth studio album from Lana Del Ray, ‘Lust for Life’. Including collaborations with the legendary Stevie Nicks and The Weeknd, Del Ray promised NME something “a little more socially aware”. Singles ‘Love’, ‘Cherry’, ‘Coachella – Woodstock In My Mind’ and title track ‘Lust for Life’ are already out, with the full release scheduled for 21 July. Check out ‘Lust for Life’ with The Weeknd below.
And if you’re in the mood for a little Netflix binge instead, which you can charge to your Vodafone bill in a couple of easy steps, check out what’s on offer in July below.
Have you caught GLOW yet? Sick of auditioning for – and not getting – run of the mill roles, struggling actress Ruth Wilder (played by Alison Brie) stumbles into the world of professional wrestling after answering a casting call for ‘unconventional women’ at an LA gym. Set in the 1980s, this spandex-heavy comedy series from the creators of Orange is the New Black brings the girl power vibe, as Wilder and her 12 fellow misfits get to grips with their new role as the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) under the guidance of washed up director Sam Silvia (Marc Maron).
Billed by Rolling Stone as “the next binge hit”, GLOW is definitely one to watch. View all 10 episodes on Netflix now or check out the full-length documentary for the real-life story behind the 1980s female wrestling phenomenon.
