very murray christmas

Christmas isn’t just a time for family, food and presents. For lots of us, it’s a chance to spend a couple of weeks enjoying some quality seasonal sport, and catching up with all our favourite music and telly after a busy lead up to the festive season.

When you pick up one of Vodafone’s fantastic Red Value 4G Bundles, you’ll get a choice of subscription to Sky Sports Mobile TV, Spotify Premium, Netflix or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass perfect for those who have a long journey home this Christmas.*

Having trouble deciding? No problem. We’re here to make life easier, with our monthly rundown of highlights from the worlds of music, TV and sport. What have you got for us, December?

Netflix is our latest #4GEntertainment partner, and it’s your one-stop shop for the latest TV series and movies, as well as a host of brilliant Netflix originals like Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Narcos.

And who could forget the outstanding Marvel’s Jessica Jones? Netflix’s newest series in partnership with Marvel arrived on the service last month to rave reviews – go watch it if you haven’t already.

If your idea of a great Christmas involves soaking up loads of movies, Netflix is the perfect winter companion. Whether you love to spend time as a family watching The Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol or Jingle All The Way, or you just love the Christmas classics like Home Alone and It’s a Wonderful Life, Netflix is loaded with festive movies to suit everyone. And that’s not to mention a hatful of Christmas specials too from the likes of The Royle Family, Blackadder and Netflix’s own BoJack Horseman.

And then there’s A Very Murray Christmas, a star-studded special hosted by everyone’s favourite grumpus, the one and only Bill Murray.

Spotify Premium

Compared to the pop music extravaganza that was November, December is a little quieter on the release front. Thankfully, Spotify has music for everyone, and that might come in handy this Christmas as you try and keep everyone happy whilst they wait patiently for their dinner!

Go to Browse > Happy Holidays in the Spotify app, and you’ll find Christmas playlists to suit everyone, from the classic Christmas tunes we all know and love, to specially curated genre playlists including Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz and Classical.

Elsewhere, American rockers Cage The Elephant have a new album out 18 December, called Tell Me I’m Pretty, whilst hip hop fans should keep an eye out for new albums from Rick Ross and Kid Cudi in the run up to Christmas.

NOW TV Entertainment Pass

If you opt for a NOW TV Entertainment Pass when you sign up to one of our Red Value Bundles, you can stream all the latest and greatest TV shows from 13 top channels, including Comedy Central, ITV Encore, Sky 1, Sky Living, and Sky Atlantic.

That means you can watch Scandal – ABC’s edge-of-your-seat political thriller from award-winning Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. Season 5 continues the story of Olivia Pope as she expands her successful crisis management firm, whilst struggling to escape her own murky past as White House Comms Director. Scandal: Season 5 is available Live and on Catch Up from 3 December.

On the lookout for some family fun? You won’t go far wrong with Fungus The Bogeyman – a new TV adaptation of Raymond Brooks’ beloved books, starring an unrecognisable Timothy Spall as the titular monster. Available Live and on Catch Up from 23 December.

And if those don’t take your fancy, there are over 250 boxsets available to watch wherever and whenever you like. Box sets available this month include Hannibal: Season 1-3, The West Wing: Season 1-7 and Glee: Season 1-6, available from 26 December.

Sky Sports Mobile TV

Christmas is a great time to be a football fan, with matches all through the festive period to keep you entertained. The month starts with a bang too, as Chelsea try to get their season back on track against Premier League newbies Bournemouth on 5 December.

Newcastle take on Liverpool at St. James Park the day after, and then we’re off to The Emirates for the big one: Arsenal vs. Manchester City on 21 December. And don’t forget about Stoke vs. Manchester United at 12:45 on Boxing Day too!

Meanwhile, fresh off a tough tour against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates and still licking their wounds, England’s cricketers face an even sterner test against world number one test-ranked South Africa. Tune in to Sky Sports 2 on 26 December for the beginning of the first test.

The tennis season is done for the winter, but there’s plenty more going on elsewhere. In Rugby Union, the Aviva Premiership and European Rugby Challenge Cup continue throughout December, and the World Darts Championship starts at Alexandra Palace on 17 December, too! What a month! It’s all live and exclusive on Sky Sports.
