Our world of Wi-Fi

Our job is to make your broadband as easy to use, safe, reliable and fast as possible, and that’s why Vodafone Connect – the app that gives you complete control over your home broadband – exists. With a host of great features, and a couple of new ones added in, you’ll be able to Beam, Boost, safeguard and even put your Wi-Fi to sleep when you go to bed, to save electricity and give you peace of mind that your whole family is asleep… And not secretly watching re-runs of their favourite TV shows. You can get the newest version of the Android app in the Goggle Play store now, and it’s coming soon to iOS and the App store – so watch this space!

The best of the new features is ‘Family Time’, which’ll let you easily manage and set time limits, giving you control over when Wi-Fi is available and when it’s not, so that you can make sure that you all settle down to eat at the same time. You can also turn off your Wi-Fi at night, or when you go off on holiday, so that you know you’re not wasting electricity when you’re not using it.

With Family Time you can also set up guests, or your children, on your Wi-Fi network on a separate profile, controlling their access with passwords and time limits, which is the perfect ace in the hole for you to be in control of your guests’ browsing. You can find out more about that here.

‘Boost’ – the feature that lets you supercharge your connected devices and prioritise your Wi-Fi speed to a chosen one for 2, 4 or 12 hours – gives your chosen device priority over others within your house. Boost is perfect for quickly downloading a video to a smartphone or tablet before setting off to work or on a trip in the car with the kids, and once your time’s up? Not to worry – if you still need to ‘boost’ your device, simply extend your boost time when the app prompts you.

‘Beam’, which uses Beamforming technology, aims the Wi-Fi signal right where it’s needed most – even in those hard to reach corners of the house or outside in the garden. You don’t need to do anything with Beam – your router will automatically beam the Wi-Fi signal to your compatible devices to ensure you’re getting the best possible Wi-Fi signal, wherever you are in the home.

You can even pair your router with any WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Set-up) enabled device – like your wireless printer, speakers and your smartphone – directly from the Vodafone Connect app, making it easy for you to print your favourite selfie, or stream your favourite track really loud.

The basics

So that’s the Vodafone Connect app: giving you a bag of tricks to help you control your Wi-Fi. It really puts our broadband service miles ahead of the pack, but just how fast is it? How much is it? And how easy is it to switch? Luckily, with Vodafone Broadband, we think you’ll really like the answers:

Vodafone Broadband: How fast is it?
We’ve got three different broadband package types, each one coming with its own top speed. At the lower end, our basic Broadband ADSL package will still give you speeds of up to 17Mbps. If you opt for Superfast Fibre or Superfast Fibre+, however, you’ll be able to enjoy lightning fast speeds of up to 38 and 76Mbps respectively. To put that into context, if an average song is 4MB, 76Mbps means you could theoretically download one track every 0.4 seconds!

Vodafone Broadband: How much is it?
Are you an existing Vodafone customer? Then we’ve got great news: if we already take care of your mobile life, you can get online with us from just £5 a month. 38Mbps Fibre is £10 a month, while the Fibre+ is just £20. What’s more, we’ll put everything – mobile and broadband – on one bill and one account for you to keep things simple. Line rental is just £16.99 per month – or choose Line Rental Saver and pay 12 months up front for £163.10.

Vodafone Broadband: How easy is it to switch?
