Every month we bring you our picks of the 4G Entertainment, and August promises to be a great month for fans of TV, music and sport...

With August on the horizon, summer is in full swing. And so far things have been good. The sun has been shining of late, and all the while our 4G Entertainment partners have been blessing us with some enthralling sports, music and TV.

You see, anyone who picks up one of our Red Value Bundles gets a subscription to Spotify Premium, a NOW TV Entertainment pass or Sky Sports Mobile TV for no extra cost!* The only difficult bit is deciding which one you want.

The choice is completely up to you, but we can certainly help: each month we scour Spotify, NOW TV Entertainment and Sky Sports Mobile TV to pull together a list of unmissable highlights for you, and our tips for August are just below…

Sky Sports Mobile TV

skysportsthumbAugust means one thing for the folks at Sky Sports. After three long month hiatus, Premier League football is back for a new season, and Sky Sports is the only place to be for all the big games.

Things kick off in a big way with reigning champs Chelsea taking on Swansea at Stamford Bridge on 8 August, but the action doesn’t let up for the rest of the month.

A new-look Man City squad host Chelsea on 16 August, and take on Everton a week later, while Liverpool will go to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal on 24 August. Looks like your weekends will be all booked up for a while then…

We know football isn’t everyone’s thing, but thankfully August is ready to deliver on all fronts. England’s quest for Ashes glory continues against Australia, and with three more test matches to go in the series, there’s all to play for. Tune in on 29 July for the next test!

We’re gearing up for the Rugby World Cup too, with plenty of warm-up games for fans of the egg-shaped ball. England host France at Twickenham on 15 August, before heading to Stade de France for a return fixture a week later. Ireland, Scotland and Wales are all in action too, all live and exclusive on Sky Sports.

Spotify Premium

spotify-new-logo-2015Nobody has had quite as meteoric a rise over the last 12 months as Jess Glynne. The London-born singer-songwriter exploded onto the scene last year, following up collaborations with Clean Bandit and Route 94 with her own mega-hit, the number one single ‘Hold My Hand’, which you can listen to below. This month sees her hit another milestone, as her debut album, titled ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, arrives on Spotify on 14 August.

We’re also brimming with excitement for Frank Turner’s new album! The English folk-rocker’s new record – ‘Positive Songs For Negative People’ – drops on 7 August, and listeners can expect the same uplifting tone as his previous release, ‘Tape Deck Heart’. “Positive Songs For Negative People is a record about defiance,” said Turner on announcing the album. “It’s about picking yourself up when you’re down, and the title reflects that.” Check below to listen to his latest single, ‘Get Better’.

The end of the month sees a couple more worthy records arrive on Spotify. Alternative R&B producer The Weeknd – labelled ‘the best musical talent since Michael Jackson’ by MTV – and British electronica trio Nero both have new albums arriving on 28 August, so don’t miss out on those either. All told, August is set to be a great month for music lovers.

And lastly this month… Are your favourite songs similar to your neighbours’? Time to find out! Spotify’s amazing new Musical Map has playlists from nearly 1000 cities around the world, with each place’s top tracks compiled so you can get a taster of the locals’ favourite tracks. You can explore the map below:

NOW TV Entertainment

NOW TV Entetainment thumbIf you opt for a NOW TV Entertainment pass when you sign up to one of our Red Value Bundles, you can stream all the latest and greatest TV from 13 top pay TV channels, including the likes of Comedy Central, ITV Encore, Sky1, Sky Living, and Sky Atlantic.

And speaking of Sky Atlantic, that should be your first port of call on 11 August for the season premiere of Aquarius – a brand new detective thriller starring David Duchovny as undercover homicide detective Sam Hodiak, as he attempts to infiltrate the Manson family before their infamous murder spree.

That’s not all you’ve got to look forward to though. If you missed the Timothy Spall and Juliet Stevenson in The Enfield Haunting, don’t panic: the chilling three-parter based on the true events of the Enfield poltergeist is coming to On Demand from 1 August.

Also On Demand from 6 August, you can catch series one to five of Boardwalk Empire, superbly led by Steve Buscemi is his Golden Globe winning performance as New Jersey politician and gangster Nucky Thompson.
