We've hit our 400th community on the Vodafone 4G rollout! Read on to find out how Bridgend in Wales is the latest place to feel the power of our ultrafast network...
Our 4G network rollout is continuing at pace. Having first kicked things off in August 2013, we’re celebrating a big milestone: Bridgend in Wales has just become the 400th of our 4G-enabled towns and cities.
To mark the occasion, we thought we’d take a quick look at the Welsh town and its many notable inhabitants through the eyes of our three entertainment packs for 4G*: Sky Sports Mobile TV, Spotify Premium and NOW TV Entertainment…
Vodafone’s ultrafast 4G network is now in 400 communities around the UK, offering faster connection speeds and amazing content from your choice of our three entertainment packs – packing your phone with live sports, amazing music or enthralling TV.
And with 4G landing in Bridgend, a town with more than its fair share of celebrity exports, we thought we’d explore the link between those prominent people and each of those services, for a glimpse at how 4G and your favourite Welsh stars go hand in hand…
Sky Sports Mobile TV
Got Sky Sports Mobile TV? You’ll no doubt see plenty of Bridgendians gracing your mobile screen this year. The town’s produced several young footballing talents, cricketer Bradley Wadlan and a plethora of other gifted athletes over the years, but there’s only one sport that really matters to a true Welshman: rugby.
And rugby stars don’t come much bigger than Gavin Henson, who hails from Bridgend and now plays for Bristol. And we can’t forget the more old school rugby players, Gareth Llewellyn, Gareth Thomas, Scott Gibbs and hero J.PR Williams, who all grew up in our 400th 4G community too. There must be something in the water!
Music fan? Bridgend has nurtured a wide variety of musical talent, and now you can stream the town’s most iconic sounds from the place itself, all over 4G with Spotify Premium. The Bullet for My Valentine guys grew up here, as did alt rock outfit Colours of One, post-hardcore group Funeral for a Friend and 70s punk legends The Partisans. NOW TV Entertainment
NOW TV Entertainment brings you big box sets and the best paid-for TV channels around… And you’ll never guess where a few of the famous faces available to stream come from. That’s right; switch on Sky’s touching comedy-drama Stella, which is written by and stars Bridgend’s own Ruth Jones, of Gavin and Stacey fame.
You’ll also see a handful of Ruth’s fellow townsfolk in front of the camera on Stella, too: both Owen Teale, who plays Dai Kosh, and Deddie Davies, who plays Marj, were born and raised in our 400th 4G community. After something even more light-hearted? You can stream MTV’s reality smash hit The Valleys on NOW TV Entertainment, with Bridgend’s own Leeroy Reed among the show’s main cast.
Bridgend may be the 400th community on our 4G rollout roadmap, but we’ve still got a way to go. The good news is that we’re firing on all cylinders, and working hard so lots more of you can feel the benefit of ultrafast Vodafone 4G. Stay tuned for more rollout news soon.
