We’ve been talking to our friends at some of the biggest tech news and reviews sites on the web to find out. The result? It seems like the Z2 is shaping up to be a real winner…

Gareth Beavis | TechRadar
“The highlights of the Xperia Z2, for me, are the improved Live Colour screen and the upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU. The former is great as it really does provide upgraded visuals over Sony’s predecessor, the Xperia Z1, by improving the colour reproduction. And I’ve heard great things about the efficiency of the Snapdragon 801 in terms of improving performance and battery life. With the GALAXY S5 and new HTC One on the way, it looks like a three way tie at the top of the smartphone game for that space in consumers’ pockets.”

“The Sony Xperia Z2 is thin, monolithic and indefinably ‘Sony'”

Ben Sillis | The Gadget Show website
“In the space of just a few short years, Sony’s gone from Android also-ran to a serious contender: the Xperia Z1 was easily one of the best smartphones of 2013 and the Z2 doesn’t stray from the formula.

“It’s thin, monolithic and indefinably ‘Sony’ – that there’s a great camera inside its waterproof casing is just the icing on a very sweet Android Kitkat cake.”

Chris Hall | Pocket-Lint’s hands-on preview
“The Sony Xperia Z1 was a powerful device and the Xperia Z2 takes things up a mark, making this one of the most powerful Android handsets around. There are improvements we’re eager to test out, like the new video features, and to see just what sort of battery performance we get from Sony’s new flagship.”

Michael Sawh | Trusted Reviews
“The Xperia Z1 only launched six months ago, so it’s come as a bit of surprise that Sony has already moved on with the Z2. The good news is that it still has a 20.7-megapixel camera, and an aluminium design that gives it a far more luxurious look than most Android phones.

“The screen has gotten bigger, the processor is more powerful and there’s generally more going on under the hood – enough to make sure it’s one of the fastest smartphones available. 4K video recording is the major new feature, while the bigger battery and great power management tools should make sure the Z2 also has the kind of battery life to comfortably make it through a day.”

Libby Plummer |
“We were impressed by the upgraded camera effects on Sony’s new flagship smartphone, as well as the excellent video recording capabilities. Add to that the waterproof chassis, cutting edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and big, friendly screen and we reckon this could be one hell of an Android contender.”
