If you’re a smartphone web addict and glued to your internet connection around the clock, you're not alone. We can tell you which UK cities are equally web-obsessed.

If you’re anything like us here at Vodafone Social, you’re a smartphone web addict and glued to your internet connection around the clock. And we’re not alone; it seems the rest of the UK is just as enamoured with their mobile internet connections as we are. But which city is the most web-obsessed?

We’ve been checking out our network’s latest usage statistics for 2011 and it won’t come as a surprise that London is the place where data volume is at its greatest.

The capital’s Vodafone customers are the biggest smartphone web addicts on our entire network, and they’ve racked up some staggering numbers in the last calendar year.

In 2011, Vodafone devices in central London made almost 1.7 billion connections.

Unsurprisingly, given the population, inner city Londoners on both sides of the river give our network its most intensive workout. In 2011, Vodafone devices in central London made almost 1.7 billion connections.

Londoners further out from the city centre aren’t far behind, with those in the suburbs making nearly 1.4 billion connection attempts over the same period.

Heading north though, there’s a surprise. While Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds followed the trend set in London, they were outdone by the Scots.

Glasgow alone made almost 360 million data connections through the Vodafone network in 2011. That’s more than any other UK city except London, and proves that the size of the city or town you live in isn’t the only factor influencing how ferocious your data demands can be.

We’d love to hear from you about what you use your data connection for most and what was the last thing you used it for. This isn’t limited to Vodafone customers either; whatever network you’re on, we want to hear about it. Shout up in the comments section below, and happy surfing!
