They’re voluble, talkative, garrulous... but are our chattiest customers living anywhere near you?
If you’re not on a call right now, we’ve got a quick question for you; how often do you pick up the phone? Not to text, or check your email, but to make an actual call?
We’ve been crunching the numbers and, based on our network’s latest usage statistics for some of the UK’s largest cities in 2011, it seems there are some very loquacious people out there using Vodafone smartphones. They’re voluble, chatty, garrulous… but are they living anywhere near you?
We can now tell you which is the motor mouth capital of the country. In fact, we might have just given it away.
The winner is (quiet in the back please)…London! Yes, it comes as no surprise to find that the country’s capital is by far the most talkative in the UK. And what a staggering amount of chatting they’ve been doing lately.
In the last calendar year alone, the capital’s Vodafone customers made almost 2.4 billion phone calls in central London, with the city’s suburbs adding nearly 2 billion of their own over the same period.
But while Londoners are the chattiest of all, the rest of the country has also been yapping. Brummies are among the most talkative Brits, with Birmingham racking up just shy of 540 million calls in 2011.
Glasgow racked up more than 400 million over double the amount of its neighbours in Edinburgh, and Manchester and Liverpool managed to pick up their phones and dial more than 300 and 250 million times respectively throughout 2011.
With all our figures combined, we’ve found that, on average, 204 calls per second were made through our network during 2011. And if you were one of them, we’d love to hear from you.
