If there’s a mouse in your hand right now you’ll be seeing a very different Vodafone Social to someone wielding a touchscreen.
If there’s a mouse in your hand right now you’ll be seeing a very different Vodafone Social to someone wielding a touchscreen. Likewise, if you’re reading these words with a keypad underneath your fingertips, you’ll see Vodafone Social has changed to best suit your mobile. We’ve built our brand new blog to suit you, whichever way you read it. Come with us, and we’ll take you behind the scenes.
With Vodafone Social we’ve built a site that uses smart web technology to detect the sort of device you’re using. You’ll probably only ever see a couple of them, but there are actually four versions of Vodafone Social humming away at any time, built for basic phones, smartphones, tablets and desktop browsers.
The reason for quadrupling the effort made by most websites? We want you to get the most out of every Vodafone Social visit, no matter how you choose to get online.
And there’s more: If you browse the site using a phone, you’ll see we’ve optimised not only the layout, but also the behaviour of every page. We’ve slimmed down the size of images so your phone doesn’t have to download large files, and reduced the number we push to your device with every page load too, so you can tap to see more photos if you want them, rather than having to wait for them to load regardless.
We want you to get the most out of every Vodafone Social visit, no matter how you choose to get online.
It’s all designed to make Vodafone Social as speedy as possible, even if you’re outside 3G coverage or using a phone of a ripe vintage.
And for tablets, we’ve gone a bit further with touch controls. As well as all the large, finger-friendly buttons you’d expect, you can swipe through parts of the site, or rotate your screen to see more information that makes the most of the screen space.
We’d love to hear what you think of Vodafone Social so far. It’s the first step in getting to know you much better, and telling some of the untold stories from across our network. Tell us what you’d like to see, how we can take you behind the red curtain, and what you’d like to see next! The comments are open below.
