We’re big fans of BlackBerry’s BB10 operating system. It’s slick, incredibly fluid and lets you whip around using nothing but a bunch of incredibly clever gestures. That’s made all the better when it’s married to some swish hardware, which is a tradition BlackBerry’s clearly looking to continue with the new BlackBerry Z30 – a 5-inch stunner with plenty to shout about.
The BlackBerry Z30 is the new flagship in the BlackBerry range. It’s 4G-ready, has a big and beautiful display and enough raw power under the hood to make mincemeat of anything you put it through. It’s your best friend for work and playtime, too. Read on for all the juicy details…
Spec it to me, baby
Keen for some raw numbers? There are plenty of highlights underneath that 1280 x 720 pixel screen. The BlackBerry Z30 has a whopping 25 hour battery life, 16GB of inbuilt storage (which can be upgraded via MicroSD card) and a pair of top cameras – an 8-Megapixel round the back which can handle full HD 1080p recording, and a 2-Megapixel front cam with image and video stabilisation tech.
It runs on a dual-core 1.7GHz processor with a weighty 2GB of RAM, there’s NFC baked in and even a micro-HDMI output, meaning you can easily fire the Z30 onto your big screen TV.
Never the twain shall meet
The real benefit here is that BlackBerry 10 has been built with one job in mind: giving you a best-in-class work phone experience without compromising on the personal stuff, and without ever letting you confuse the two.
How? Simple: with one swipe you can switch between ‘Work’ and ‘Personal’ mode, with each displaying a different set of apps and accounts of your choosing. There are more than 120,000 BlackBerry 10 apps now, covering all your favourites on the personal side, from Facebook to Flipboard. And for work? The Z30 has the Documents To Go app pre-installed, letting you create and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents using BlackBerry’s super-intuitive touchscreen keyboard.

As well as that, there’s video conferencing via BBM Video with the new BlackBerry Natural Sound tech, which’ll make your virtual meetings sound like everyone’s all in the same room.
And, with the Blackberry name, it goes without saying that email’s at the beating heart of the Z30 experience – your inbox is always a swipe away thanks to BlackBerry 10’s Peek feature.
The BlackBerry Z30 is available on our Red 4G-ready plan, which comes with 2GB of data, unlimited calls and texts, for £42 a month at just £19 upfront. Sign up before the end of October to get a #4GBonus – an extra 4GB of data each month!
