Update: Windows Phone 8 has launched at Vodafone! Read all the latest pricing information here.
Windows Phone 8 is nearly here. Since announcing that we’d be stocking the phones in a post late last year, we’ve been working day and night to get the new breed of Windows Phone devices through our network tests unscathed. Now that work’s come to an end, and we’re almost ready to get all five of our Windows Phone 8 handsets into stores and into your hands.
The Nokia Lumia 920, 820 and 620, as well as the Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC, make up our new Windows Phone 8 army, and they’ll all be available to buy from Wednesday, 6th February.
Here’s a little on what you can expect out of the gates…
Nokia Lumia 920
The 4G-ready* Lumia 920 is Nokia’s new flagship. And rightly so; it’s a powerful, colourful, colossal phone. The PureView camera is Nokia’s ace in the hole, here. It captures images unlike any you’ve seen on a phone before. It’s going to be available in both black and yellow from 6th February.
Nokia Lumia 820
The smaller 820 is no less impressive than the 920, and contains within its brains everything that makes Windows Phone 8 special. Its unique feature, though, is swappable backplate. It’s also 4G-ready for when our ultra-fast network launches later this year. You’ll be able to pick it up in either black or red from Vodafone.
Nokia Lumia 620
The pocket-friendly Lumia 620 is the newest of Nokia’s Windows Phone handsets to be announced, rounding off the pack with a 3.8-inch display, 5-Megapixel camera and a 1GHz processor. It’ll be available in blue or white, but the beauty of the 620 – like the 820 – is that its colourful backplates can be swapped for a range of different hues.
Windows Phone 8X by HTC
HTC’s Windows Phone wunderkind is both slinky and curvy, but still boasts a massive 4.3-inch display. That sits in front of a dual-core engine room with 1GB of RAM and an 8-Megapixel rear camera. You can choose from either California Blue or black.
Windows Phone 8S by HTC
The 8S is a smaller offering than the 8X, but its more pocketable frame still houses all the live tile action and all the apps that Windows Phone 8 has to offer and it will be available in a colourful Atlantic Blue.
